This project was made in partnership with Family Promise, a national nonprofit dedicated to helping homeless and low-income families.
The Covid-19 pandemic has exacerbated a kind of homelessness that is often invisible - individuals and families living in their cars, motels, crowded shelters, or even doubled up with relatives or friends.
It is a reality faced by millions of people across America, but especially acutely in California, which has the country's largest homeless population.
