Transition between ELILO and actual booting slow on Slackware64 -current
by The_Dark_Passenger from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5EAYY)
Hello,
I have a Dell Precision 7920 tower running Slackware64 -current with the latest updates. I have configured the system to use the generic kernel. I've noticed however that the transition between ELILO and when the system actually begins booting is quite slow. ELILO loads the initrd and kernel without error and it displays that is done quickly. However, it will then sit there for about 20 or so seconds displaying this message before transitioning to where the system is booting. I was wondering is there any setting I may have missed to configure in ELILO similar to the "compact" setting in LILO?
I don't see anything odd in /var/log/messages or dmesg about why it takes this long between ELILO and the transition to booting.
System specs are below:
CPU: 2x Intel Xeon Silver 4116
GPU: NVIDIA Quadro P2000 (Running NVIDIA driver 460.39)
RAM: 64GB ECC DDR4-2400
Any ideas on what might be causing this is appreciated!
