How to recover and install bookmarks and add-ons after a Firefox upgrade?
by grumpyskeptic from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5EEJJ)
I have an old version of Linux Mint, Rosa 17.3 Cinnamon, which I thought was no longer supported. A few minutes ago I was surprised to be offered a Linux upgrade, which I accepted. It was a small file which downloaded and installed, I don't remember the details.
Immediately after that I accepted the offer of a Firefox upgrade, from version 66 to version 78.7.
The problem is that now all my bookmarks and add-ons have disappeared. This appears to be by design, which is very harsh and unfriendly (I can now understand why Firefox is becoming less popular).
How do I get them back please? While the browser claims I can recover them by starting a Firefox account, I do not want a Firefox account. I have enough spam already thanks.
My question: What else can I do to recover them please?
The bookmarks have taken years to build up. The add-ons are why I preferred Firefox. It is like having all the furniture in your house stolen.
Thanks.
