migrating Thunderbird address books to mutt

I've used Thunderbird for many years but unfortunately several of my computers are quite old, and I have responsiveness issues when I leave Thunderbird up. I've started to switch to Mutt. I have no problems with connectivity to imap servers, but don't yet know how to migrate Address books, some of which include lists, to Mutt. Exporting from Thunderbird is trivial, though the lists require ldif format to be transferred properly.
