Fantasy: 5 moves you need to make in Week 7
Every week, theScore offers a fantasy hockey column detailing a handful of moves you should make. This edition focuses on Week 7. Roster percentages and position eligibility are courtesy of Yahoo.
Add Vladimir Tarasenko Scott Rovak / National Hockey League / GettyTeam: Blues
Position: RW
Rostered: 71%
Tarasenko's return to St. Louis' lineup is near, and he's available in more leagues than he should be. There's no concrete date on his season debut, but using an early add this week on the Russian sniper is a savvy move. Tarasenko could make a massive difference for your team down the stretch if he plays anywhere close to his ceiling.
Add Jake Allen Icon Sportswire / Icon Sportswire / GettyTeam: Canadiens
Position: G
Rostered: 44%
The Dominique Ducharme era isn't off to the smoothest start, as Montreal has collected a single point in two games under its new head coach. Still, Ducharme has already made waves by starting Allen over a struggling Carey Price, which could become the norm for the Canadiens going forward. Allen has far superior numbers this season and is operating on a much longer leash than Price, who may need some additional time on the sideline to rediscover his old self. Take a crack at adding a potential new starter on a playoff hopeful.
Sell high on Mark Scheifele Jonathan Kozub / National Hockey League / GettyTeam: Jets
Position: C
Rostered: 97%
Scheifele is off to a roaring start this season, currently ranking sixth in scoring with 28 points. He's also fresh off an 11-game point streak. But now is the time to move the Jets pivot for a different superstar or a package of players. Scheifele is bound for some regression. He's shooting a whopping 25% to this point, and his underlying numbers are poor for a top-line pivot. Sell him while his inflated totals are attractive to your fellow competitors.
Move on from John Gibson Joe Sargent / National Hockey League / GettyTeam: Ducks
Position: G
Rostered: 80%
Gibson has all the tools to be a star goalie, but the Ducks can't be relied upon to give him any help. He's lost five consecutive starts and owns a measly .874 save percentage over his last 10 appearances. It's unlikely anyone would trade for him, and it'll hurt to drop a guy you may have drafted to be your starter. Sometimes you have to bite the bullet, though, and streaming goalies with better odds of winning single games is a better strategy than bearing the burden of rostering Gibson.
Add Mats Zuccarello Dave Reginek / National Hockey League / GettyTeam: Wild
Position: RW
Rostered: 41%
Zuccarello has been dynamite for the Wild after making his season debut a couple of weeks ago. He's found incredible chemistry with Victor Rask and Calder Trophy favorite Kirill Kaprizov on Minnesota's second line, and Zuccarello's notched 11 points over his last six contests. He doesn't offer much in shots, hits, or blocks, but he's worth taking a chance on as he rides this unforeseen wave of success.
