Hamilton police release photo of shooting victim Tyler Pratt
Hamilton police are pleading for anyone with information about a double shooting that left one man dead and one woman seriously hurt to come forward.
Tyler Pratt, a 39-year-old from British Columbia who was looking to move to the Greater Toronto Area, was killed when he was shot behind an industrial business at 347 Arvin Ave., west of Millen Road, around 7:15 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28.
Hamilton police have released a photo of the homicide victim, shared by Pratt's family.
A 26-year-old woman who was with Pratt was also shot behind the business, which was closed at the time, but managed to walk out front where witnesses travelling on Arvin stopped to call for help, Staff Sgt. Jim Callender, of the major crime unit said.
She remains in hospital in serious condition, where she underwent surgery Tuesday.
It's not clear what the pair were doing at the business that day, why they were shot or how many suspects may have been involved. Police are looking for a white, newer model Land Rover that is believed to have body damage in its lower panel area.
Arvin is an industrial road where police expected to collect vast amounts" of surveillance video.
Pratt's death marks the third homicide in Hamilton this year.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call Det. David Tsuchida at 905-546-4123.
