Report: Bears prioritizing trade for Russell Wilson
The Chicago Bears' future at quarterback remains a mystery, but the team apparently has a front-runner for the position.
The Bears have prioritized making a trade for Seattle Seahawks' signal-caller Russell Wilson this offseason, sources told Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune.
Wilson is reportedly unhappy with the Seahawks, and although he hasn't demanded to be moved, the 32-year-old told the team he'd waive his no-trade clause to go to the Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints, Las Vegas Raiders, and Bears.
The eight-time Pro Bowler likes that Chicago has an emerging offensive line and a solid offensive-minded head coach in Matt Nagy, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
Wilson's dissatisfaction with Seattle reportedly stems from multiple factors, including his lack of input concerning roster subjects. He's also voiced his frustration with getting hit too much.
Bears general manager Ryan Pace recently said that "everything's on the table" regarding his team's quarterback position.
Mitchell Trubisky and Nick Foles were Chicago's starters last season. Trubisky started nine games in 2020, throwing 16 touchdowns to eight interceptions and posting a 6-3 record. He's set to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
Foles, meanwhile, was 2-5 under center, tossing 10 touchdowns against eight picks. The former Super Bowl MVP still has two years left on his contract.
Wilson racked up 4,212 passing yards and 40 touchdowns versus 13 interceptions last year.
