weird folder permissions on mounted NAS folders
by drobble from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5F1RC)
hi folks,
Background:
running Linux Mint v20.x
mounted 5 NAS (QNAP) shared folders through 'fstab' entries
I have the following questions...
I can access the majority of the mounted folders w/o any problems (permission is set to '777').
But I can't access some of the (sub) folders. They are locked.
When I checked the permissions. They showing a user (#500) as owner which I don't have on my system.
I checked that through the command 'less /etc/passwd/'.
Any explanation why this happen and how I can 'fix' it?
Any help id much appreciated.
TIA
Fred
