Firefox won't start on Xubuntu
by thethinker from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5F1W5)
I've been using Firefox on my Xubuntu machine for quite a while - months at least - and it's been functioning as expected. However, a few days ago it starting crashing on start up. I just get the crash reporter, nothing else of use. From the command line, I get
Code:$ firefox -safe-mode
ExceptionHandler::GenerateDump cloned child 67515
ExceptionHandler::SendContinueSignalToChild sent continue signal to child
ExceptionHandler::WaitForContinueSignal waiting for continue signal...I've seen a few solutions to problems like this being related to firefox version, so I removed and reinstalled (via apt) with no success - and I'm running the latest version:
Code:$ firefox --version
Mozilla Firefox 86.0I did remove the package bcswl-kernel-source sometime before this started happening, but I can't see how that might be related (other brosers like Chromium seem to be working fine).
Any one have anything I could try? Version info:
Code:$ uname -a
Linux Xubunac 5.4.0-66-generic #74-Ubuntu SMP Wed Jan 27 22:54:38 UTC 2021 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
