Employees at Hamilton Sobeys, No Frills, Lowe’s test positive for COVID-19
Cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed at a Stoney Creek grocery store, an east end Lowe's and two No Frills locations.
Loblaw was notified Tuesday that a staff member at Eric's No Frills, located at 36 Clappison Ave. in Waterdown, had tested positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19," according to the company's COVID-19 case tracker.
It was also notified Saturday that an employee at Giorgio's No Frills located at 435 Main St. E., in central Hamilton, had tested positive.
Both staff members last worked in their respective stores on Feb. 28.
According to Loblaw, when a worker tests positive they work closely with public health and follow their guidance to ensure proper notification of close contacts and required cleaning and sanitization in our stores."
A corporate affiliate" at the Sobeys at 1770 Stone Church Rd. E. in upper Stoney Creek has tested positive for COVID-19. The company was notified of the case on Saturday, according to its online case tracker. The employee last worked on March 3.
An employee at the Lowe's at 1945 Barton St. E. has also tested positive for COVID-19, according to the company's online case tracker.
The company was notified on Sunday that a staff member had tested positive for the virus. Their last shift was on March 4.
According to the Lowe's, staff who are identified as a close contact of a confirmed case are directed to self-isolate and are put on preventive paid quarantine at home." The store also undergoes an extensive" cleaning.
It's unclear how many staff members were affected by the cases or if any were recommended to self-isolate as a precaution. None of the databases specify which part of the store the employee worked in.
