Report: Washington inking William Jackson to 3-year, $42M pact
The Washington Football Team and cornerback William Jackson agreed to a three-year deal worth $42 million with $26 million guaranteed, a source told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Jackson appeared likely to leave Cincinnati after the Bengals gave Trae Waynes a three-year, $42-million contract last offseason. The AFC North club reportedly bolstered the cornerback group Tuesday with Chidobe Awuzie and Mike Hilton.
Washington needs to add a starting-caliber cornerback after Ronald Darby signed a deal with the Denver Broncos and with Fabian Moreau also likely to leave via free agency.
Jackson, a first-round pick of the Bengals in 2016, appeared in 59 games (48 starts) in four seasons. He racked up 11 pass defenses, one interception, and 45 total tackles last year.
PFF ranked the 28-year-old as the 19th-best cornerback in the league in 2020.
