Report: Cardinals acquire Hudson from Raiders before release
The Arizona Cardinals are acquiring center Rodney Hudson and a seventh-round pick from the Las Vegas Raiders for a third-round pick, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Las Vegas reportedly planned to release Hudson, a three-time Pro Bowler, if they didn't find a trade partner.
Hudson spent six seasons with the Raiders and was one of the best centers in the NFL over that time. He was rumored to have asked out of Las Vegas after experiencing just one winning season with the Silver and Black, according to The Athletic's Vic Tafur.
Hudson should bolster an interior offensive line in Arizona that had issues in 2020. Mason Cole, who started at center for the Cardinals, allowed 23 pressures and two sacks and was penalized eight times in 563 snaps as a pass-protector, according to PFF.
The 31-year-old Hudson is signed through the 2022 season and won't have any guaranteed money left on his deal after the upcoming campaign.
