Free-agent edge rusher Haason Reddick has agreed to a one-year deal worth up to $8 million with the Carolina Panthers, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Reddick, who is coming off a breakout season with the Arizona Cardinals, notched 12.5 sacks in 2020 - albeit five came in one game - after posting 7.5 through his first three campaigns.

The 26-year-old represents the first splash signing for Carolina this offseason. The Panthers made waves with some of their reported quarterback inquires but hadn't made high-profile addition until getting Reddick.

Arizona selected Reddick 13th overall in 2017, and he shuffled between roles throughout his first three seasons before settling in as a pass-rusher in his fourth year. Carolina will count on him and Brian Burns to supply pressure off the edges.

Reddick was thought to be a candidate to receive the franchise tag following his banner campaign, but the Cardinals allowed him to hit free agency. Arizona bolstered its pass rush earlier in the offseason, signing former Houston Texans star J.J. Watt to a multi-year contract.
