qemu guest additions

Hi,
I have a few qemu virtual machines. Their guest additions work when running the VMs using gnome-boxes; however, if I use virtmanager to run the vms, guest additions do not load.
The host is Debian 10 Guest O/S: Ubuntu, Kali, Windows 10 and Windows 7.
I have tried installing quemu-guest-agent but no luck.
