DeVonta Smith not worried about weighing 170 pounds
Alabama receiver DeVonta Smith dominated the college game in 2020 on his way to winning the Heisman Trophy, but concerns remain about his slender frame and his ability to withstand the physicality of the pro level.
On Monday, Smith revealed to reporters that he currently weighs 170 pounds. However, he's not worried about playing at that size in the NFL.
"I feel like it's not going to be any different than college," Smith said, per ESPN's Cameron Wolfe. "I have played in the SEC. I feel like it's the toughest conference there is.
"I know a lot of people that are bigger than me that have more problems than me, so I'm not worried about it at all."
Smith has been compared to Hall of Fame receiver Marvin Harrison. The former Indianapolis Colts great played at a similar weight throughout his career, according to Wolfe.
Head coach Brian Flores, whose Miami Dolphins will pick inside the top 10 in next month's draft, said at the Senior Bowl that he has no concerns about Smith.
"He made a lot of plays in college. He made a lot of plays in the biggest games of the year," Flores said. "You can nitpick all day on things on people. He's a very good player, and it's been good getting to know him."
