Eagles agree to 1-year deal with Flacco
The Eagles have found Jalen Hurts' backup for the 2021 season.
Veteran quarterback Joe Flacco agreed to a one-year deal with Philadelphia on Tuesday, the team announced.
The pact is worth up to $7.5 million and includes $3.5 million guaranteed, according to Adam Caplan of SiriusXM.
Flacco spent the 2020 campaign on the New York Jets, starting four games. The 36-year-old posted a 0-4 record and completed 55.2% of his pass attempts for 864 yards and six touchdowns against three interceptions.
The Eagles will be his third team in as many seasons, as he started eight games for the Denver Broncos in 2019. The former first-round pick reportedly also visited the San Francisco 49ers last week.
Flacco spent his first 11 NFL seasons on the Baltimore Ravens, helping the team win Super Bowl XLVII and posting a 96-67 regular-season record. He's the franchise's all-time leader in wins, passing yards (38,245), and touchdown passes (212).
The Super Bowl XLVII MVP is now expected to be the Eagles' No. 2 quarterback during Hurts' sophomore campaign.
The 2020 second-round signal-caller won the starting job over Carson Wentz during last season's final stretch, which saw Philadelphia trade Wentz to the Indianapolis Colts this offseason.
