Report: Giants, Rudolph finalize deal after late snag

The New York Giants and free-agent tight end Kyle Rudolph finalized their agreement Wednesday after encountering a late snag, reports NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

New York will move forward with the original two-year, $12-million contract after its medical staff raised concerns about a foot issue that popped up on Rudolph's physical. He'll undergo surgery to address the issue but is expected to be ready for the beginning of the season, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

A foot injury sidelined Rudolph for the final four games of the 2020 campaign. The Minnesota Vikings released the 31-year-old in early March after he rejected a pay cut.

New York coveted Rudolph to serve as a complement to top tight end Evan Engram. Rudolph, a two-time Pro Bowler, notched 28 receptions for 334 yards and a touchdown last year.

The Notre Dame product is set to join a Giants offense that also added star wide receiver Kenny Golladay in free agency.
