Report: Packers bringing back Marcedes Lewis on 2-year, $8M deal

Marcedes Lewis is returning to the Green Bay Packers for his 16th NFL season.

The veteran tight end has agreed to a two-year, $8-million contract with Green Bay, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. The deal reportedly includes $4 million guaranteed.

Lewis turns 37 on May 19. He's spent the last three seasons with the Packers, racking up 28 receptions for 302 yards and four touchdowns in 47 appearances.

A first-round pick out of UCLA in 2006, Lewis spent his first 12 NFL campaigns with the Jacksonville Jaguars, amassing 4,502 yards and 33 touchdown receptions on 375 catches.

Though Lewis' receiving production has been modest since he joined Green Bay, the former Pro Bowler has made a significant impact as a run-blocker, ranking seventh in run blocking among tight ends who played at least 10 games in 2020, according to PFF.

Green Bay has had a quiet offseason so far. The team placed its second-round tender on tight end Robert Tonyan and reportedly re-signed cornerback Kevin King to a one-year, $6-million deal.
