Problem with FreeFileSync backing up to WD EasyStore external hard drive

I got a WD EasyStore 1TB external hard drive to back up my Xubuntu Home folder. It worked great the first time, but since then it has created a tremendous amount of "trash" files and as soon as I mount the EasyStore, gvsfd trash spawner starts and freezes the EasyStore and any other USB flashdrives that happen to be connected. And it's just the EasyStore that has this problem. I can back up to ordinary USB drives with no problems. And the EasyStore is formatted to NTFS. Any ideas? Thanks.
