Dynamic LiLo or GRUB on DVD/CD/USB

Before I try to re-invent the wheel here ...
I have started using my SuSE Tumbleweed DVD as a dynamic loader as it has a rather useful feature scanning my machine for Linux installs and then offering them as a list to launch from.
The main problem I have is that it understandably loads up a lot of other things as well ... it's an install DVD after all!
So here's what I want ... a Live CD or USB Stick that does a quick scan for volumes with a linux install then offers them as a list.
Why? ... Because I swap in and out hard drives quite frequently so having to update LiLo or GRUB every time is a faff.
Does such a thing already exist???
... If not I will start work on one :)
