Mate Places bookmarks

Hi.
Running Mint 20 Mate.
Since I installed VLC, my Places menu (any choice) brings up VLC instead of a network, home, or any other place. I think it is some kind of bookmark problem, but I can't find the bookmarks. If I uninstall VLC, the problem goes away.
