[SOLVED] How can I disconnect host and keep target program running?
by BruceV from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5GRKQ)
I have a Debian box, ARM based, which is accessed purely through a TCP connection from a PC host. I have a program on that box that I want to start up, then disconnect the host and leave it running uninterrupted for several days. It will terminate on its own when things are right, leaving me a data file as its output.
I can start the executable (./ progname), but how do I then get out without the program closing itself? Exiting to the terminal (^c, etc) will of course terminate the program. Will simply unplugging the RJ45 (which will close the ssh connection of course) work?
Any suggestions welcome, but simple ones preferred.
.. sorry for the shortage of tags, can't think of any that are being accepted.
Thanks in advance.
