[SOLVED] My laptop freezes, but background activities continue working
by doteer from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5GRWH)
Hi all, i got Lenovo ideapad 3 laptop with AMD Ryzen 5 3500u (iGPU). My system info:
Code:[pavle@pavle-81w0 ~]$ uname -a
Linux pavle-81w0 5.10.26-1-MANJARO #1 SMP PREEMPT Thu Mar 25 16:56:17 UTC 2021 x86_64 GNU/LinuxSo two nights ago, i was browsing the web on my laptop when it suddenly froze, mouse was moving around but the picture was frozen, however, since i was on youtube atm, i was able to pause and play the video, play another video, close mozzila, which tells me that system is working. But after some time everything stops and my laptop restarts.
At this time i was on Slackware64-current and i upgraded kernel (to 5.11.13) that day, so i thought i messed up something and i did clean install (kernel 5.10.28), however after couple of minutes running it, i get freeze again. Because i was suspicious of kernels and AMD drivers, i decide to test that theory by installing different distro and i chose Manjaro (as it is easy to switch between kernels here). After clean install of Manjaro i get same issue. Tried kernels 5.4.112, 5.9.16, 5.10.26 on Manjaro and tried kernels 5.10.28, 5.10.31, 5.11.12 on Slackware. So now i think it is AMD drivers or my laptop? I don't know.
I need my laptop for uni so any help is welcome, i am also including dmesg output. If anything is needed i will provide.
P.S. i didn't know what forum to put this in, as i don't know what is the problem.
