Bluetooth mouse

Hi all
I have connected my smartphone without any problem using Bluetooth with the RPI4.
After exchanging the same number on the two sides, the connection was established and I could transfer files from and to the RPI.
Nowadays, I would want to connect a Bluetooth mouse.
I take a mouse which has been connected many times this way to my laptop and put it near the RPI4.
When I ask for a new connection, the assistant jumps and shows me the mouse : I click to connect it : after a rather long time, the assistant shows me rapidly a number but it disappears quickly and the assistant crashes.
I have tried many times but without success : why is the assistant shows a number that I cannot enter with the mouse ? and why I cannot connect my mouse ?
