Problem with Slackware 15.0 Beta and the slackbuild nvidia driver

Hi, I am having trouble with the slackbuilds nvidia driver (and kernel) with the Slackware 15.0 Beta.
I can use the computer fine. I am using KDE as my desktop but I am logging in with runlevel 3. The problem that I have is that when I log out (not shutdown or reboot) then the screen turns off ! But the system is still running ! I then have to log in via ssh from my 'phone to do a shutdown.
I get the same problem in xfce so it looks like it is a problem with X rather than the desktop.
I also get the problem of the screen turning off if I do a "chvt 2" to change to a virtual terminal (the CTRL - ALT - FNumber shortcuts do not work).
Does anyone know of a fix so that the screen does not turn off when the X server exits ?
