Montreal Canadiens top prospect Cole Caufield made his NHL debut Monday night against the Calgary Flames.

Caufield and Jake Evans slotted into the lineup as emergency recalls, the team announced. Paul Byron is out with a lower-body injury, Jonathan Drouin is out with a non-COVID-19-related illness, and Alexander Romanov has been assigned to the taxi squad.

Caufield, the 2021 Hobey Baker Award winner, recently wrapped up an incredible season with Wisconsin, scoring 30 goals and adding 22 assists in 31 games. He also appeared in two games with the AHL's Laval Rocket this season, scoring three goals and notching one assist.

The Canadiens selected the 20-year-old with the 15th pick in the 2019 NHL Draft.
