Custom DPI settings

Does it work? Does it enabled? Xfce seems to ignore now DPI settings. Plasma is using "scaling" and discourages to use DPI. But does it system wide behavior? Property Xorg is compiled with. I set DPI to 128 but I see almost no difference in font rendering.
