Report: Steelers targeting Najee Harris
The Pittsburgh Steelers are targeting Alabama running back Najee Harris, reports Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
The Steelers pick 24th in Thursday's NFL draft, and their hope is the Miami Dolphins - picking at 18th - and New York Jets - selecting 23rd - don't grab Harris first, Dulac reports.
Pittsburgh led the league in pass attempts last season and finished 28th in rushing attempts, as James Conner, Benny Snell, and Anthony McFarland struggled to run the ball. Conner led the team with just 721 yards on the ground and six scores. He signed with the Arizona Cardinals this offseason.
Harris had an exceptional senior season with the Crimson Tide, rushing for 1,466 yards and 26 touchdowns on his way to a national championship.
He's projected to go to the Steelers at No. 24 in theScore's latest mock draft.
If the rusher is off the board by that pick, the Steelers could pivot to a quarterback, according to Dulac.
