Mint 20 and 20.1 want to connect with wireless although is already connected by wire.

Ever since upgrading to Linux Mint 20 Cinnamon (and this problem has continued with 20.1) I receive a pop-up telling me that the wi-fi network requires authentication before I can go online.
Unfortunately this message is usually coming after I have already been online for a few minutes
This is only a minor nuisance--although more so if I am already watching a video--but is there a way to shut this off?
