Gronkowski donates $1.2M to renovate Boston playground
Rob Gronkowski isn't a member of the New England Patriots anymore, but he's still finding a way to help members of the Boston community.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end gave $1.2 million for the renovation of Charlesbank Playground, located in Boston's Charles River Esplanade, according to The Associated Press.
The star returned to Boston on Friday to deliver the check, prompting the Governor of Massachusetts to describe him as "a big man with a big heart."
Legislation has also been put forward to rename the park "Gronk Playground."
The 31-year-old played the first nine seasons of his career with the Patriots before briefly retiring following the 2018 campaign. After sitting out the 2019 season, Gronkowski came out of retirement in 2020 and reunited with Tom Brady on the Buccaneers where they ultimately won Super Bowl LV.
