5 Webinars on How to Overcome Concerns Surrounding Wearable Medical Devices
THE INSTITUTE Today there are millions of connected wireless medical devices powered by the Internet of Things as well as biosensors that monitor and deliver life-saving treatment for patients. The connected devices, which can form a personal patient area network, collect critical data to help people understand their health. The growing use of medical wearable technology is raising a variety of concerns, however, resulting in a slowdown in their adoption.
The IEEE Global Wearables and Medical IoT Interoperability and Intelligence (WAMIII) program from the IEEE Standards Association Healthcare and Life Sciences Practice offers a series of free on-demand webinars and presentations that address those concerns. In the series, experts from academia, industry, and regulatory agencies discuss the opportunities and challenges the devices present and explore trusted use of wearable technology.
Here are the topics covered:
Biosensors/Wireless Medical Devices This series covers medication adherence and test methods for medical device communications. It also explains the unique device identification system established by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration used to track medical devices sold in the United States.
Cybersecurity Learn about blockchain and smart contracts; bioinnovation in the age of artificial intelligence; and how to ensure trust, privacy, and security.
Decentralized Clinical Trials This series focuses on data harmonization, technology and institutional review board considerations, as well as ensuring inclusion and diversity in recruiting patients for the trials.
Patient Data Privacy and Governance Responsible solutions for patient rights and consent to sharing and transacting health data are discussed.
Robotics/Autonomous Systems Topics covered include understanding the benefits and need for autonomous robotics, artificial intelligence, and information engineering to help advance health care.
Telehealth This series addresses the challenges of remote health care delivery.
