Victor Mete seems to have regained his form with the Ottawa Senators since being claimed off waivers from the Montreal Canadiens late in the season.

"It's a new lease on life, getting claimed by Ottawa. It's been great here," Mete said Thursday, according to TSN 1200. "I was able to go out and play my game knowing if I made a mistake, I wasn't going to (get) pulled."

Ottawa claimed Mete on April 12. The 22-year-old appeared in 14 games with the Canadiens this season and skated in 14 with the Senators to close out the year.

The 2016 NHL Draft's 100th overall pick scored one goal and added one assist while averaging 17:27 minutes of ice time per game with Ottawa. In Montreal, he had three assists and averaged 14:09 minutes of ice time while moving in and out of the lineup as a scratch all season long.

Mete's stint with the Senators this season was short, but the pending restricted free agent expressed his desire to stay with the club.

"The team and my agent are working on a deal. I hope it works out," Mete said. "I want to come back here and be a part of this."

Mete has amassed five goals and 31 assists in 199 career games.
