Former first-round draft pick Kelvin Benjamin is expected to be among a group of players trying out for the New York Giants this weekend, a source told ESPN's Jordan Raanan.

Teams are allowed to work out up to five veteran players during rookie minicamps, according to Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News.

The Carolina Panthers selected Benjamin 28th overall in the 2014 NFL Draft. However, the 30-year-old wideout hasn't played since 2018.

Benjamin recorded 1,949 yards and 16 touchdowns in two full seasons with the Panthers, but he battled injuries and conditioning issues and was traded to the Buffalo Bills in 2017.

The Bills waived him in 2018 after 18 games. He then signed with the Kansas City Chiefs but made two receptions in three games.

The receiver position was among the Giants' biggest areas of need after the 2020 season. The franchise has since added Kenny Golladay, John Ross, and tight end Kyle Rudolph through free agency and wideout Kadarius Toney in the draft.
