The Hamilton Chamber of Commerce has released the nominees for its Outstanding Business Achievement Awards, which will be handed out at a virtual ceremony June 1. This year's awards will honour businesses who exhibited resilience throughout COVID and those who made great contributions to the local business community," states the chamber.
Flores Cleaning Services, Jet Propelled and Laser Spa Group are nominated in the small business category; Eccles Auto Service and Hamilton Discount Auto Parts in the mid-size category; and Fibracast Ltd., KF Aerospace and WalterFedy (Hamilton) in the large business category.
Fresh Image Print, LoDidThat and Miller Box Co. are nominated in the young entrepreneur category; Goodwill, the Amity Group, Habitat for Humanity Hamilton and YWCA Hamilton in the not-for-profit category; and Good Shepherd Centres, In Fine Feather Yoga and McMaster University, Housing & Conference Services in the COVID champion category, for a business that has stepped up during the pandemic, retooled their operations to support the crisis, or assisted front-line or essential workers."
TownePlace Suites Hamilton will receive the accessibility award, for being "committed to inclusive, barrier-free recruitment, and creating employment opportunities for persons with disabilities." YWCA Hamilton and YMCA Hamilton/Burlington/Brantford will get the Century Award for their contributions to the community for over 100 years.
Despite, or maybe because of the challenges of COVID, 2020 was filled with heroic feats from businesses across all sizes and sectors," said Keanin Loomis, chamber president. Though this isn't necessarily a time for celebration, it is so important to honour the contributions of our local businesses and the extraordinary resilience each is exhibiting in persevering through the pandemic."
