Sony Vaio Installation Issues
by ridgedale from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5J3D0)
Trying install Buster 10.9 on an old Sony Vaio PCG-V505CP laptop booting from a CD written using the debian-10.9.0-i386-netinst.iso.
The laptop boots fine from the CD and progresses to the point where the installer requests the file ipw2100-1.3.fw to be able to install the wifi drivers. I downloaded the firmware-ipw2x00_20190114-2_all.deb file from the debian website and copied it to a USB flash drive, but when Yes is clicked to look for the ipw2100-1.3.fw because it is contained within the .deb which it does not process. So I skipped that section by clicking on No.
However, once the repartitioning of the hard drive was completed and the installatlon started the install fails to fetch the following owing to a hash mismatch relating to the following file:
linux-image-4.19.0-16_4.19.181-1.i386.deb.
Any thoughts on being able to resolve the issue(s) would be greatly appreciated.
