Slackware ISO boots on i486 but package installation fails
by RuebeSoft from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5JA30)
I want to use Slackware on my ancient i486 DX to use my 5.25" Floppy with TRS-80 Emulator.
I was happy to see, that Slackware still supports i486. I just tested the installation from slackware-14.2-install-dvd.iso with qemu-system-i386 -cpu 486 ...
I can successfully boot the iso with boot-parameter: huge.s and uname -a shows me a 486 kernel.
But package installtion from iso failed with the setup utility, because it tries to install x86_x64 packages instead of i486.
The setup tool gives error messages on every package like this:
ldconfig: ../sysdeps/x86_64/cacheinfo.c:262: handle_intel: Assertion 'maxidx >=2' failed.
/usr/lib/setup/installpkg: line 271: 2769 Aborted
Can someone help me? Or is there an optional way to install slackware on i486 Computer?
