Booting from USB Manjaro XCFE stuck in device mapping table
by Kiff from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5JDZJ)
Hi
I read the user guides, downloaded Manjaro XCFE, checked the ISO and burned the USB.
Went into the BIOS and had a choice of:
Boot options
1 Windows Boot Manager
2 Windows Recovery Manager
3 UEFI Built in EFI shell
I selected option 3 and inserted my USB.
The computer displayed Device Mapping table with lots of entries like blk3 Hard Disk alias (null)
Press ESC in 1 second to skip startup.nsh
Shell not recognised as internal or external command operable programme or batch file.
I thought I had read the user guide carefully but obviously something has gone drastically wrong and I cannot escape this screen.
Details of my computer:
Thomson Notebook NEO14A-4WH64
Version 10.0.19042 Build 19042
OS Mfr Microsoft
System type x64 based PC
Processor Intel (R) Atom x5 - Z8350 CPU@ 1.44GHz 1441 MHz 4 core 4 logical processors
BIOS Version American Megatrends Inc N1401TQD.C3L3 MWB XC Z004.2019.0604.1553.04/06/2019
SIMBIOS Version 3.0
Embedded controller version 255.255
BIOS Mode UEFI
Platform role slate
Secure boot state off
I had hoped to erase Windows and install Manjaro permanently on my machine but very disappointed to have fallen at the first hurdle.
If anyone is able to help I would be most grateful.
