Hamilton residents now have a new local option for recycling metal scraps as Metalogics marks one month in business in Dundas.

The company's first location opened in Etobicoke in 2015, serving industry customers - including those in the automotive, construction and plumbing trades - as well as households looking to ditch everything from worn down appliances to end-of-life cars.

The feedback from the neighbours, neighbouring businesses, everyone, has been phenomenal because we cleaned up the site," with some construction still underway, said Mike Vasic, a corporate account manager at Metalogics and lifelong Hamilton resident.

Located at 895 Collinson Road, customers who are looking to sell their scrap metals to Metalogics must drive through an entrance, fitted with a scale to weigh each vehicle. An ATM processes the payment to customers based on the weight and metal grade.

Metalogics buys all grades of metal, copper, aluminum, brass, zinc and steel, and sells it to other companies such as Stelco and ArcelorMittal Dofasco, upon cleaning and cutting it down, Vasic said.

Because the company's work was deemed essential during lockdowns, it has continued to see a high demand for services. Vasic said Metalogics doubled the amount of business in its first month compared to what was forecast at the Dundas location.

Customers that deal with us in our GTA location are glad to have an alternative in Hamilton," he said.
