Saleh: Crowder absent from OTAs due to contract issues

Jamison Crowder finds himself out on the outside looking in when it comes to the New York Jets' receiving corps.

Crowder has been absent from his team's voluntary OTA sessions, and according to Jets head coach Robert Saleh, it's because the wideout is unhappy with his contract.

"So Jamison, obviously, he's working through some stuff with (his) contract with (general manager) Joe (Douglas) and his staff and (his) agent and all that stuff," Saleh said Friday, according to Nick Shook of NFL.com.

New York has been proactive this offseason in revamping a passing attack that finished 31st in yards per game (174.8) in 2020, adding new pass-catching options in Corey Davis, Keelan Cole, and Elijah Moore.

Despite that accumulation of talent - which also includes budding second-year star Denzel Mims - Saleh said Crowder "definitely has a role for this team."

Crowder, 27, is set to make $10.3 million next season after signing a three-year, $28.5-million deal in 2019, according to Over The Cap.

The Duke product has led the Jets in receiving yards and touchdowns in each of his last two campaigns. He's tallied 137 receptions, 1,532 yards, and 12 touchdowns through two years with the organization.
