[SOLVED] Sudoers file issue
by brainsys from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5JXV3)
Just setup a new Debian 11 system. the username was not in the sudoers file. So went in as root and did an adduser user1 sudo.
Confirmed user1 added. But when I switched back to user1 - no joy. Not in sudoers group. Or am I? These conflicting returns confused me:
user1@vet:~$ groups
user1 cdrom floppy audio dip video plugdev netdev bluetooth lpadmin scanner
user1@vet:~$ groups user1
user1 : user1 cdrom floppy sudo audio dip video plugdev netdev bluetooth lpadmin scanner
So why is user1 in sudo or not depending on whether you specify yourself? And how do i fix it?
TIA.
