Lap-top would not boot from USB linux first
by KenChanLT from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5KC30)
For the purpose of employment, I have to use Windows on my Acer Aspire E15.
However, I would like run Linux from a thumb-drive on this laptop.
I installed Linux Mint on a thumb-drive with Rufus.
I tried to configure the UEFI so that it would try to boot Linux Mint from USB first, then if the thumb-drive is not in, the laptop would revert to windows. This is not successful.
Subsequently, I discovered that Acer had hard-configured to UEFI to only boot from Windows.
I am now thinking of buying a new lap-top that could achieve the above.
Could anyone advise any other solution?
Or recommend a brand of lap-top that could do the above?
Thanks for all suggestions.
