Kevin Hart movie, ‘The Man from Toronto’ filmed scenes in Hamilton and Milton
The Man from Toronto" promises to be a big movie event when it comes out Jan. 14, 2022.
It features scenes filmed at the Hamilton airport and the Ancaster Mill, and in Milton and Toronto, and stars Kevin Hart and Woody Harrelson in a comic story about a mix up between a New York City bumbler and an assassin at an Airbnb.
It is, however, not the first film to carry the name, The Man from Toronto." And it is not a remake of the first film.
The first movie is a British film from 1933 and is a romantic comedy, starring Jessie Matthews, that has nothing to do with assassins, though there is a fair share of bumblers in the flick.
The movie revolves around a man from Toronto who has to marry his late uncle's young wish-to-be partner (she wouldn't marry the uncle) in order to get his generous inheritance. The inheritance for the couple amounts to 250,000 pounds.
The man from Toronto comes over to England to meet his uncle's bride-for-him but is in no way convinced he will go through with it. Neither is the woman.
The last thing I want to do is to marry a Canadian hobo," she hollers at him over the phone.
The film features mistaken identity and the typical array of goofy characters in a British comedy such as an overbearing matron, a put-upon lawyer and daffy villagers. Of course, there's a happy ending.
