What’s open and closed and things to do in Hamilton on Canada Day

Thursday is Canada Day and you might be wondering what you can and can't do on this statutory holiday.
Here are some things that are open and closed on Thursday, July 1, around Hamilton.
Open
Canada's largest ribfest is a drive-through event again this year. Head to the Burlington Centre, 777 Guelph Line, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Canada Day. canadaslargestribfest.com
Virtual fireworks are on display in 3D all across Canada. At 10 p.m. local time, the Tim Hortons Canada Day Virtual Fireworks will be in augmented reality. Wherever you are in the country, point your smartphone or tablet at the sky and enjoy this 3D fireworks show. The Royal Botanical Garden is open. Gift shop hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Garden areas are open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and trails are open dawn to dusk. Regular admission applies. rbg.ca
Hamilton Conservation areas are open seven days a week from sunrise to sunset, unless otherwise posted. You may require reservations for some areas like Spencer Gorge or Lakeland Pool, visit conservationhamilton.ca. HCA's main office and administrative headquarters are closed.
Some Beer Store locations are open Thursday (1111 Barton St. E., 959 Fennell Ave. E., 1408 Upper James St., 150 Barton St. E., 282 Parkdale Ave. N., 75 Centennial Pkwy. N.,) and (236 Guelph St. in Georgetown and 2025 Guelph Line and 5051 New St. in Burlington from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.)

DARTS is operating holiday service hours on Thursday. All subscription trips on DARTS, with the exception of dialysis, are cancelled.
GO Transit is operating on a reduced schedule Thursday. Face coverings are mandatory on GO Transit.

All City of Hamilton and Burlington administrative offices will be closed on Thursday.
No garbage day in Hamilton or Burlington Thursday. Pickup for the week will occur one day later than regularly scheduled. There is no change to collection in Niagara.
Community recycling centres and transfer stations are closed.
