Hamilton reported 10 new cases of coronavirus Saturday
Hamilton public health reported 10 new COVID-19 cases Saturday as infections continue to plummet.
It's been two weeks since the city has recorded 20 cases in a single day - a trend buoyed by rising vaccinations and thwarted community spread.
Active cases in Hamilton hit 102 Saturday, down seven from the day before. The last time active cases were this low was in 2020.
The rolling seven-day average for new cases is at 11, a drop from the 13 reported June 30.
Meanwhile, test positivity - the percentage of tests coming back positive in the last seven days - is 2.4 per cent. That's a far cry from the 12.6 per cent reported in May, but still above the current provincial average of 1.0 per cent.
The only active outbreak in Hamilton is at a daycare where two children tested positive June 23. No new outbreaks have been declared since then.
Hamilton hospitals were caring or 28 COVID patients Thursday - 15 of whom are in intensive care units - compared to 161 patients at the end of April.
It's been three days in a row since the city last had a COVID hospitalization.
As of Saturday, nearly 74 per cent of Hamilton adults have had a first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine. About 38 per cent have received the full two doses.
