Burlington man arrested for break-in after victim remotely activates home camera
A 46-year-old man is facing charges following a break-in to a Burlington home on Saturday, July 3.
The suspect approached the Walkers Line and New Street area dwelling during the day and kicked open a basement window to get inside, police said.
The intruder ransacked the residence and was reportedly in the process of stealing jewelry and hockey memorabilia when the homeowner remotely activated their internal camera and saw the suspect.
The victim contacted Halton police and an arrest was made.
A 46-year-old man from Burlington, who is known to the victim, has been charged with breaking and entering and four counts of breaching probation.
The charges have not been proven in court.
It is unclear at this time whether the stolen property was recovered.
Police are also investigating a break-in to a garage on Robinson Street, which took place during the evening hours of Friday, July 2.
The suspect reportedly pried open the garage door and stole a snowblower and a power washer.
The value of the stolen property is estimated at around $2,000.
