Problems with su. (Authentication service cannot retrieve authentication info)

When I do "su" I get the following: Code:su: Authentication service cannot retrieve authentication infoWhat bugs me is that I can perfectly login as root when rebooting, doing "sudo -s" gives me a root terminal, and I can "su" to any other users.
Why does this happen? I don't understand what the "-s" option is (man page doesn't help) nor su's error message.
