Hamilton police have arrested and charged two people with second-degree murder in connection with the suspicious death of a man in the city's Stinson neighbourhood last month.

Sebastian Winter, 26, and Breyanne Moreau, 23, both from Hamilton, are charged with second-degree murder in the death of 38-year-old Jed Anger Jr. of Hamilton.

In a release, police said the major crime unit learned through its investigation that an altercation between the victim and two people in a wooded area near Victoria Avenue South and Young Street, south of Carter Park, allegedly led to the man's death.

After 10:30 a.m. on June 25, police found the victim's body in the wooded area near the Canadian Pacific Railway rail line just south of Young Street. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police called the death suspicious at the time. There are a number of tent encampments in the area, but Anger was not from the area" in which his body was found, police previously told The Spectator. Police spokesperson Jackie Penman previously confirmed the man was in the encampment, but was not a resident."

In a release Friday, police said it was an isolated incident" and there is no risk to the public. Police are not looking for additional suspects.

However, the investigation is ongoing. Police ask the public to share any information that could help with the investigation with Det. David Tsuchida at 905-546-4123.
