Slackware on HP EliteBook 840 G7
by Kowalczyk from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5MAJJ)
Hi.
I have just installed Slackware -current on a HP EliteBook 840 G7.
It has a nvme drive so it wouldn't work out of the box. I know I could have used alienBOB lilo patch but I also want/need to use newer version of Openssh to make use of yubikey's implementation instead of using ssh agent. And if I had to install many new packages for 14.2 to get it to work it wouldn't be 14.2 anymore so that's why I'm sticking with -current for now until 15 and then will be using that since it has this incorporated:
So for my issue:
My trackpad isn't working.
Xinput don't show it. KDE says no trackpad is found.
I just booted a Ubuntu live cd just to check if it wasn't HW related. It worked there(might have been a slightly newer kernel)
synclient says no driver found.
So my question is: is anybody else running this laptop ?
Is this a driver issue or a kernel issue?
It also has sound issue but that gets fixed by installing a driver from GitHub so that is okay but I need to get trackpad to work. External mouse is working but I don't want to always have to use that.
So does anyone have an idea?
