Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in Hamilton on Tuesday

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is expected to make a housing announcement this morning in Hamilton.

His first scheduled stop was at the Hamilton Mountain Mosque on Stone Church Road East to recognize the Eid al-Adha holiday.

Trudeau is then expected to make an announcement related to housing on the site of Indwell's Royal Oak Dairy project in the lower city at 11:30 a.m.

Indwell, a Christian affordable-housing provider, is constructing four buildings with 139 units on the property at East Avenue North and Robert Street.

Ahmed Hussen, minister of Families, Children and Social Development, and Labour Minister Filomena Tassi, MP for Hamilton West-Ancaster-Dundas, are accompanying Trudeau.

The prime minister's swing through Hamilton follows federal NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh's visit last week in what's shaping up to be a local preamble to a potential fall election.
