UPDATE: Victim to hospital after shooting near Centennial Parkway and QEW
Hamilton police are investigating a shooting near Centennial Parkway and the QEW.
Police said one victim was taken to hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Emergency crews including paramedics were called to the parkway and the North Service Road near the highway just before 7 a.m. on Wednesday. Police had blocked street access around a delivery truck left on Royce Avenue near Birchlawn Drive around 8 a.m.
Police are asking the public to avoid the area of Green Road to Millen Road and Highway 8 to the escarpment in Stoney Creek.
Tactical response trucks and canine search teams were visible in the neighbourhood and around a school in the area.
South Meadow Elementary School in Stoney Creek, located at 23 Royce Ave., was placed on hold and secure as a result of the investigation. Families accessing child care at the location have been contacted, the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board said in a tweet.
